ZAMBIA
IN THE SUN
Miss
Zambia UK Beauty Pageant is an
innovative way to put Zambia on the
map and to let friends of Zambia learn
about our history, culture,
traditions, and all aspects of Zambian
life including our tourism potential.
Our contestants are encouraged
to promote Zambia when they are asked
questions on stage regarding Zambia,
while at the same time bringing to the
attention of the outside world the
plight of HIV/AIDS orphans in Zambia.
In addition, we provide a
souvenir brochure for the audience to
take away from the show and in that
brochure we have profiles on some of
Zambia’s business and tourist
attractions. We also engage a Zambian cultural dance troupe to entertain
the audience as part of the extra
MISS
ZAMBIA UK BEAUTY PAGEANT
A
Celebration of the Zambian Woman
DEDICATION
Miss
Zambia UK Beauty Pageant is a
celebration of
the beauty of every Zambian
woman.
It is an opportunity for us to
present the beauty of the Zambian
woman to the world.
Yet in celebrating the Zambian
woman we remember all Zambian women
who have died of HIV/AIDS and
therefore Miss Zambia UK Beauty
Pageant is dedicated to the memory of
all Zambian women who have died of
HIV/AIDS.
And in so doing we are reminded
of
the children that these Zambian
women have left behind.
BEAUTY
FOR A PURPOSE
In
appreciation of being fortunate enough
to be where we are, we utilise Miss
Zambia UK Beauty Pageant as an
opportunity for us to give back to the
community and come to the aid of those
that are less privileged.
Therefore, a percentage of the
proceeds from the pageant is donated
to a selected charity for HIV/AIDS
orphans in Zambia. This year we have elected to make a donation to the K.K
Foundation for Children of Africa, a
charity for HIV/AIDS orphans run by
Zambia’s first republican President,
Dr Kenneth Kaunda.
Miss Zambia UK is a contest of
“Beauty for a Purpose” therefore,
once the winner has been crowned Miss
Zambia UK 2002, with our guidance and
support, she will, during the period
of her reign as title holder, use her
title and influence to raise funds for
HIV/AIDS orphans in Zambia.
PRIZES
The
first prize includes an introduction
to a top Model and Casting Agency and
a return air ticket to Lusaka with
spending money.
All prizes are provided by our
sponsors, some of whom have not yet
confirmed their offers.
Therefore we expect a lot more
goodies on the prize list by the time
the pageant is staged.
Apart from the prizes that
contestants would receive on the night
of the show, contestants will normally
gain even much more from the exposure
that they get by participating in the
contest through media attention and
press coverage, which would enhance
their profile and raise their
potential as experienced by some of
our previous contestants.
