Meet
the Mufulira Folk Singers Julian Tingo
Sinyangwe and Webby Mofya finalists in the
Traditional and Folk
Music Lazarous Tembo Award category for
Ngoma Awards which took place last year
2002, Lazarous Hakalebula
twelve years schoolboy scooped the award For
the Most Outstanding Singer. The
duo play acoustic
guitar very well and most of their songs
are sung in Bemba the language populary spoken
in the Copperbelt.
The two
Folk Musicians are popular in Mufulira and have done
series of shows at Mufulira Little theatre.
Julian
Tingo Sinyangwe and Webby Mofya write professional
lyrics in catchy language worthy listening to.
Their ambition is to promote
the local talent in traditional and folk music and
build up the Traditional Art Industry
in the
Copperbelt. We have the potential to attract
tourists from outside the country and hence contribute
positively
to Tourism Industry in Zambia, the only thing we
are lacking is commitment from active players.
