Am Gone

when was the time i were
swift in the mirth's of young life
bruised like a tender leaf
yet blossomed in the beauty of lilies
and laughed the rays to set
as childhood strolled into dinnertime
i wiped my brow with no memory
the tender leaf now withered
knew defeat but victory was courted
laughter girded like loose clothing
the works and the words vindicate the silent
such are louder than uncouth outbursts
t'was a true moment of reckoning
am gone yet i live
do not follow the way you won't go
as ancient sands scribble the times
waves ever erase their vitality
never to be witnessed before us
but am glad to say am not here
